Learning about urban and industrial development methods

【Course Purpose and Description】

As the population continues to decline, the number of vacant houses and unowned land increases, and in the wake of the Corona disaster, telework is spreading and the population is dispersing to rural areas. In view of these major structural changes, the students will learn concrete methods for urban development that combine urban and industrial policies to promote attractive and sustainable urban development.
This year, students will learn how to integrate urban and industrial policies on the model of the Takamatsu Marugame Shopping District's A and G business districts and Portland, Oregon, USA, where citizens participate. Based on legal systems such as the City Planning Law, the Redevelopment Law, the Location Propriety Law, and the City Center Revitalization Law, students learn concrete project methods, cooperation between the public and private sectors, sharing of roles, budgets, and time management.

【Instructional Methods】
