【Sub-title】

Understanding and practicing the management knowledge required for PPP business

【Course Purpose and Description】

・In order to practice PPP business, management knowledge from a business administration perspective and endeavors using such knowledge are indispensable.
・The first half of the course schedule will further students’ understanding of the nature of PPP business from a business administration approach by comparing theory and practice based on the lecturer’s experience.
・The second half of the course schedule furthers students’ understanding of the knowledge from the first half of the course through lectures on the current state of affairs and issues that directly face PPP business provided by outside lecturers that are managers and supervisors of PPP business.

【Learning Objectives】

・Students will acquire basic knowledge for management to practice business while capturing PPP from a business administration perspective.
Students will understand the current state of affairs and issues which PPP business faces in relation to local governments and residents.
・Students will obtain skills to be able to manage by themselves based on the theory and practice of business administration when they are in charge of PPP.

【Instructional Methods】

・In the first half of the course, lectures will be held mainly with the materials prepared by the lecturer.
 (An assignment is required for 4. Workshop.)
・In the second half of the course, students will listen to the lectures of outside lecturers and will be asked to submit a report regarding their opinion every time.

【Self-study before/after classes】

・To prepare for class, it is desired that students look for questions and issues about the scheduled theme, obtained in their business and activities.
・As post-class review, it is desired that students consider influence and effects to their business and activities, obtained from the results of discussions.
・Preparation before class and post-class review are expected to take 30-60 minutes each. It is recommended that graduate students in the workforce take advantage of time during their own businesses and activities to observe.

【Methods of Evaluation and Grading Criteria】

1. Attendance to lecture (including submission of an assignment for class 4 and opinion reports of the classes from outside lecturers) 60 points
2. Level of participation for questions and exchange of opinions during course 15 points
3. Final paper (evaluate PPP project which you have participated (participate, will participate) in or have studied (study, will study), using what you learned in this course) 25 points
【note: PPP means not only PFI, designated management, and etc., but all projects that require partnership between public sectors and private sectors with several types.】
Totally, Grade S would be more than 90 points, A be 80-89 points, B be 70-79 points, C be 60-69 points, and Fail be less than 59 points.
