【Course Purpose and Description】

This lecture was jointly developed with ICMA--International City/County Management Association to learn local government management knowledge by city managers, that is mainstream in the US and other countries. The purpose of the course is to learn the efficient and effective local governement management based on ICMA material, and comparing Japanese system to the ones in the US. By learning differences, realize the challenges of the Japanese system, how it can be applied to Japanese system, and ways to make change.

【Learning Objectives】

- Learn public administration, local government management, budget development, division of roles between the public and private sectors, and acquire the skills necessary for local government management
- Become able to plan and develop methods for efficient and effective management of Japanese local governments
- Based on the learning, become able to develop policy proposals to local and central governments

*Because of COVID restriction and delay of schedule, first two classes were substituted by materials on demand. The rest will be conducted online without further notice.
